Old Tbilisi: Walking tour, boat trip, and Georgian wine
About this experience
Old Tbilisi is the historical center of the city, where many beautiful pre-revolutionary buildings are preserved. In a group of up to 10 people, you will visit iconic temples, admire a fairytale tower and monuments, while our guide will tell you the most interesting stories about them. Then you will take a comfortable boat trip, escape from the hustle and bustle, and try authentic Georgian wine.
What to expect
Walking tour: museums and temples
You will walk through the historical sites of Tbilisi. The guide will tell you about the origins of these locations and their value. Our route includes:
- Georgian National Museum. You will see the treasures, artworks, and archaeological finds kept there.
- Metekhi Church. The first Georgian martyr, Saint Shushanik, is buried by its walls. It's a tradition to make wishes near her icon inside the church.
- Sioni Cathedral, built in the name of the Dormition of the Mother of God. It houses the cross of Saint Nino, the enlightener of Georgia, one of the most revered relics by Georgians.
- Anchiskhati Church - the oldest church in Tbilisi. Here you will learn the history of the icon for which the church was named.
- Clock tower near the Rezo Gabriadze Theater. Every hour, an angel appears from the tower's doors and strikes time with a hammer and a bell. Twice a day - at 12:00 and 19:00 - you can watch 15-minute puppet shows called 'The Cycle of Life'.
At the end of the walking tour, you can taste wine - 6-8 varieties of your choice, as well as the same amount of chacha, tea, and coffee.
Boat trip: landscapes and wine
We will ride a boat on the Kura River. You will see the Narikala Fortress, the Glass Bridge, the Justice House, Mtatsminda Mountain, Sulfur Baths, and other sights from a new perspective. And the bright urban landscapes - colorful houses with balconies hanging over the water, ancient churches, a small waterfall. All accompanied by the guide's fascinating stories.
On the boat, we will offer you to try two types of legendary Georgian wine - white Rkatsiteli and red Saperavi. Plus chacha, tea, and coffee.
