Colorful Tbilisi with a Taste of Wine
About this experience
Multifaceted Tbilisi offers each traveler a wide choice - which is why many want to come back here again. Authentic architecture and unique balconies, the hospitality of the locals, the coziness of old streets, cuisine and wine - perhaps all together. On my tour, you will visit the oldest church in the city, see four bridges from different eras, admire the city panorama from the walls of the Narikala Fortress, and listen to the sound of an angel's bell. You will learn many legends and stories, understand how a Georgian feast goes and what 'positions' exist at our table - and fall in love with Tbilisi deeply and for a long time.
What to expect
Time will fly by with conversations
Every building in Tbilisi has its own story - I will show you the most popular ones and tell you about them. You will learn what the Georgians borrowed from the Persians, what - from the Tatars, and what they picked up from the Turks. We will talk about religion, philosophy, and art. There are many legends waiting for you: about Georgia, about our city, King Mirian, the Surami Tower, the vineyard - and many others. I will tell you about the Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani and his paintings, about the old tradition of matchmakers, about Tbilisi professions that no longer exist, and reveal the recipes of famous Georgian dishes.
Must-see places and more
We will climb to the main fortress of Georgia and enjoy the city from the observation deck. You will hear the chronicles of this citadel, learn why the temple inside the fortress exploded. The hoary antiquity awaits you at the 6th-century Anchiskhati Church. We will see the legendary sulfur baths - according to custom, every traveler after a long journey had to wash away their fatigue here. And we will visit the magical Puppet Theater: on its tower, an angel with golden wings strikes the bell every hour.
The cellar where no tourist has set foot
And at the end of the tour, we will definitely visit a 17th-century Georgian wine cellar, known to few. They say that it used to be part of secret paths to the Narikala Fortress, and young Stalin once hid here. Today, it is a beautifully arranged cellar where you can taste the best varieties of wine and, if you wish, buy a few bottles for yourself or as a gift.
