Harmony of Ancient and Modern Tbilisi
About this experience
Tbilisi, like almost any capital, is considered a city of contrasts. On this tour, you will understand how wonderfully the new glass bridge and ancient temples, modern cafes, and Georgian balconies coexist here. You will touch the origins in Abanotubani, admire houses in Eastern and Western styles, visit an ancient church, and indulge in a wine tasting - all amidst beautiful natural scenery.
What to Expect
Ancient Stories of Old Quarters
A corner of the city revived from legends, the oldest district and the cradle of Tbilisi - Abanotubani. You will take a closer look at the low Eastern buildings with neat domes and large glass windows, hear the story of the emergence of sulfur baths, and learn about the birth of Tiflis, its outstanding residents and guests. And of course, during the tour, you will enjoy the colorful balconies of Tbilisi, get lost in the labyrinth of quarters, and hear ancient stories and legends.
Streets Winding along the Hills
Throughout the tour, we will constantly encounter the hills of Tbilisi, descending and ascending to see the city from the best perspectives. The Metekhi district, spread out on the eponymous hill, will tell the stories of the former royal residence. Here, on a cliff above the Kura, you will be charmed by one of the symbols of Tbilisi - the Metekhi Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, founded in the 12th century. You will admire old Tbilisi from Meidan Square, visit the Zion Cathedral with its iconic relics in Georgian history, and the Anchiskhati Church - the oldest building in the city.
Colorful Blend of Old and New
Ancient buildings and modern solutions - you will notice their harmonious combination in our warm city. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the stylish capital on the modern pedestrian street of Chardeni, learning about industrial rows, caravan parks, and famous caravanserais - this is how this place used to look. I will tell you about the architectural ensemble of Freedom Square and the Bridge of Peace - the bridge built in 2010 has become beloved by the locals and a symbol of the unity of old and new Georgia.
A pleasant addition will be a wine tasting: we will visit several places where you will be happily treated to Georgian wines.
