About this experience
To see as much as possible, you need to climb as high as possible — Tbilisi is no exception in this regard. You will admire the capital from the highest viewing points of the Old Town. Throughout the tour, you will only be descending! The excursion will cover the main attractions — Sulfur Baths, Narikala Fortress, Ingorokva Gorge, Avlabari streets, Metekhi and Sioni churches. And I will fill the walk with my stories about the birth and development of Tbilisi, urban legends, and Georgian traditions.
What to Expect
Ancient Sites and Color of Avlabari
At the beginning of the tour, you will be greeted by the Avlabari district with its colorful ruggedness and ancient past. You will greet the heroes of the film 'Mimino' by the monument, learn about the royal palaces that were once located here, and see the 13th-century Metekhi church, with traces of vandalism that have already become history. Near the church stands a monument to the founder of Tbilisi, King Vakhtang Gorgasali: I will tell you about the symbolism of such coexistence and the birth of the 'warm city,' give an idea of the present capital.
Labyrinths of the Old Town
Wandering through the heart of Tbilisi, you will visit caravanserais, the Sioni Cathedral, where the Holy Cross of St. Nino is kept, and the only Juma Mosque in the city. These attractions will help trace the history of Christianity in Georgia and learn about Tbilisi's religious tolerance. Additionally, you will explore the Sulfur Baths district, discover the waterfall in the Legvtakhevi Gorge, and not miss Sharden Street.
Viewing Platforms of Tiflis
The route is designed along the highest viewing points of the Old Town. At the top of the Metekhi Cliff, you will enjoy a view that artists especially love to portray. From Rike Park, we will ascend to Narikala Fortress: from here, you will admire both banks of the Kura River, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, and on a clear day, you will see the snow-capped peak of Mount Kazbek. Coming down a bit, you will overlook the Botanical Garden. I will keep a couple of viewing spots a secret: I'm sure the unexpectedness will take your breath away!
