About this experience
The Temple Mount is a unique place that is sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims. On this tour with me, you will see the heritage of three religions and learn what significance the mountain holds for these faiths. I will tell you about the historical events that took place here and how they have impacted contemporary beliefs and lifestyles across the world.
Program
On the way to the mountain, you will meet the descendants of the first Christians who still speak and pray in Aramaic and reside in the Armenian Quarter.
In the Jewish Quarter, we will see the ancient Roman Cardo street, the city walls of King Hezekiah from the 8th century BCE, and the Golden Menorah - a replica of the one taken by the Romans.
I will show you the Dome of the Rock above the Foundation Stone, where, according to biblical tradition, the world began; the Al-Aqsa Mosque - third in importance after the mosques in Mecca and Medina; the remaining fragments of the Jerusalem Temple, the destruction of which is mourned by the people to this day. You will see the political situation in the Middle East and monuments of Mamluk architecture.
I will talk about the events that took place on the mountain at different times, about the Jewish, Christian, and Muslim doctrines of the creation of the world. You will learn where God created Adam and where Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Isaac; where the Jewish Temple stood and how the Knights Templar order was founded.
Thus, you will understand the significance of the mountain in the religious world, how it connects three different faiths and how the events that took place here have shaped religious beliefs and traditions known today.
