In the vicinity of Kazbegi, I spent my childhood, so on the way to the high-mountain giant, in addition to historical facts, you will hear many warm stories about how people used to live here before their day was filled and what it is like - to grow up surrounded by unbelievably beautiful nature from an early age, seeing day after day how clouds drift below against the backdrop of mighty icy peaks.
What to expect
Azure reservoir and medieval fortress
On the way to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda), you will stop near the most remarkable natural and historical sites and leisurely explore them. At the Jinvali reservoir, you will learn the secret of the submerged church, get acquainted with the structure of the medieval fortress of Ananuri, see what types of buildings are in it and hear stories about its noble inhabitants - regional leaders and princes.
Mountain rivers, amazing viewpoints and the best khinkali!
You will visit one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the country, marked by an arch erected here in honor of the friendship between Georgia and Russia in 1983. When we reach the Gudauri ski resort, we will take a break so you can temporarily leave all unnecessary thoughts behind and fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of these places. In Pasanauri, legendary khinkali await you - it is said that even Beria used to order them here. The chef is different now, of course, but he still cooks this dish excellently ;-)
Kazbegi and the ancient church of Gergeti
The main goal of the journey is the mountain giant Kazbek and the church, which is among the top 10 temples located in the most picturesque places in the world. Gergeti against the backdrop of Kazbek is not just a postcard view, it is a spectacle without which it is impossible to say that a person has been to Georgia. The building itself (which you can reach on foot or rent a local jeep) looks quite ascetic, it is not abundant in luxurious decorations, architectural delights, but when you go inside, it seems that time has stopped.
