About this experience
How to immerse yourself in the captivating world of Georgia in just one day? The answer to this question may lie in a day tour to Ananuri and Kazbegi, where you will experience an unforgettable journey from the capital Tbilisi to the snow-capped peak of Mount Kazbek. The Military-Georgian Road, leading from the south to the main Caucasian ridge, is considered one of the most beautiful mountain roads in the world. And the journey along it will surely be a highlight of your stay in Georgia.
What to Expect
Awe of the Caucasus Nature
The beauty of the Military-Georgian Road and the surrounding landscapes was praised by Pushkin, Lermontov, and many other writers. Gorky, after walking the entire Military-Georgian Road with a knapsack on his back in 1891, admitted: "It was the majestic nature of the Caucasus that gave me the push to transform from a wanderer to a writer." During this journey, you will witness the truth of the enthusiastic reviews of people who beheld the grandeur of the Caucasus nature.
Ananuri and Pasanauri
Along the way, you will see the architectural complex of Ananuri - the former residence of the Aragvi feudal lords. You will explore churches and medieval towers overlooking the Zhinvali reservoir, learn about the history of the place, and discover the secrets of the artificial lake. During a stop near the village of Pasanauri, you will witness the confluence of two mountain rivers - the Black and White Aragvi. The peculiarity of this place is that each of them has its own color, and when the waters of the two rivers merge, they flow parallel to each other for a long time without mixing.
Friendship Arch and Gergeti Church
Our journey will continue through the Cross Pass with a stop at the panoramic viewing platform from the Soviet era called "Friendship of Nations," which offers a picturesque view of the deep gorge of the Caucasian Ridge. Upon arrival in the village of Kazbegi, we will switch to off-road vehicles and ascend to the Holy Trinity Church of Gergeti, located at an altitude of 2170 meters above sea level. I will tell you about the significance of the church and its history, and in good weather, you will be able to enjoy the mesmerizing view of the famous Mount Kazbek and learn one of the legends associated with the mountain giant.
