What to Expect
Military Georgian Road and Enchanting Reservoir
The Military Georgian Road offers a constant change of landscapes. You can visit these lands many times, each time discovering something new. I will tell you what makes this road famous and take you to the Zhinvali Reservoir, located between mountains with dense green vegetation. The water here is of a peculiar, unusually rich turquoise color, and against the backdrop of the surrounding landscapes, it appears as if it is part of a wonderful fairy tale.
Ananuri Fortress - Walls Preserving Georgia's History
Ananuri is located right above the Zhinvali Reservoir and is the best-preserved fortress in all of Georgia, founded in the 16th century, its walls and towers hold many secrets. It's always pleasant to leisurely stroll around the fortress grounds. Climbing the steep stone steps to the top of one of the watchtowers, you can peer out over the surroundings through the embrasures. In the summer, if desired, you can descend to the lake for a swim. Continuing the journey, you will find yourself in a very interesting place - the confluence of the White and Black Aragvi rivers.
Traditional Cuisine in an Authentic Cafe
Passing through the village of Pasanauri, we will make a stop to taste delicious khinkali and shashlik at a cozy family roadside restaurant. Nearby, a mountain stream flows into the Aragvi River.
Mountain Serpentine and Beautiful Observation Decks
We will ascend the famous Cross Pass, where two observation decks with magnificent views of deep gorges and the ski resort of Gudauri will greet us. You will also see the rusty slope of the mountain, down which mineral water continuously flows like a thin canvas.
Kazbegi Village and the Majestic Mount Kazbek
You will learn about the history of this region, the origin of its name, and at the foot of Mount Kazbek, at an altitude of 2170 meters above sea level, you will visit the Gergeti Trinity Church. This 14th-century church offers the opportunity to hire a 4x4 vehicle which will take you up the steep and picturesque road to the church. The 4x4 costs extra, around 20 euros for a group of four.
Return to Tbilisi by evening.
