Kazbek: Journey to the Heart of the Caucasus Mountains
About this experience
My tour to the great Kazbek covers both the famous beauties of the legendary road and places less visited by tourists. In one day, you will visit the Jvari monastery, the medieval fortress of Ananuri, and the Gergeti church. You will pass by waterfalls, mineral springs, and river confluences. Learn about the history, legends, and customs of the mountainous region of Georgia. And most importantly, experience the awe of meeting the magnificent Caucasus Mountains!
What to Expect
Jvari, Ananuri, Pasanauri and other beautiful Georgian words :)
Meeting in the early morning, we will embark on a journey along the picturesque Military-Georgian Road. Near Tbilisi, you will be greeted by the proud Jvari Monastery, a panorama of Mtskheta, the soul cities of Georgia, and the 'embracing' sister rivers Aragvi and Kura. I will tell you about the history of these holy places associated with the establishment of Christianity. The path will lead to the Zhinvali Reservoir: you will admire the azure waters and the Ananuri Fortress, where you will hear stories of Aragvi princes and the chilling tale of the Unsubdued Tower. We will then stop in Pasanauri, where you will see the confluence of the black and white rivers and visit the healing spring Tear of the Nightingale.
Mountains, gorges, mineral springs, and more mountains!
The landscapes of unforgettable beauty will constantly unfold before you. We will definitely stop at the Arch of Friendship, where breathtaking shots are always taken and you can paraglide over the gorge. We will ascend to the Cross Pass, whose highest point reaches 2395 meters, pass through the Darial Gorge near the Russian border and Gudauri, as well as encounter several mineral springs and a small waterfall.
In winter, for safety reasons, the ascent to the Gergeti Trinity Church is possible only if the road is open.
Kazbek: Georgia's most beautiful 'paintings'
After passing through the village of Stepantsminda, you will climb to the Gergeti Trinity Church: the monastery itself is ascetic, but it seems that there could be no better addition to the view of the majestic Mount Kazbek (which in Georgia is called Mkinvartsveri). Here you will enjoy the views to the fullest and learn local legends.
The trip includes lunch at an excellent restaurant, and we can also grill authentic Georgian shashlik!

Everything was great! Despite the weather conditions and the fact that Kazbek was behind the clouds, we enjoyed everything. We had a wonderful time in magical places. Thank you very much for the tour!
