On the way to the majestic Mount Kazbek
About this experience
A couple of centuries ago, the journey from Tbilisi to Kazbegi took long weeks - but you will get acquainted with the beauties of the Military-Georgian Road and the giant Kazbek in just one day! This trip will lead you to the smooth Zhinvali Reservoir, ancient walls of Ananuri Fortress, and captivating panoramas of the People's Friendship Arch. And the views of the giant Kazbek, revealed to you near the walls of the ancient Gergeti Church, will become the most inspiring memory of Georgia.
What to expect
Zhinvali Reservoir Landscapes
First stop on our journey will be the magically beautiful natural spot with a rich history. You will walk along the reservoir shore, admiring mountains reflected in the mirror-like surface, and learn about the creation of the reservoir: it's hard to believe, but beneath the water lie more than a dozen flooded Georgian villages from Queen Tamar's times.
Ananuri Fortress: history in stone
On the banks of the Aragvi River, you will be greeted by the only fortress in Georgia that has come down to us in its original form. Walking through the territory of the defensive complex of Ananuri, you will feel like a medieval resident and learn about the glorious past of the Aragvi eristavis (local rulers). Also, we will definitely pay attention to the 17th-century Assumption Church, whose facade is adorned with interesting reliefs, and each element of the decor carries a hidden meaning.
Falling in love with the nature of mountainous Georgia
Our path will pass through the most impressive section of the Military-Georgian Road, where at every turn you will encounter breathtaking natural views. You will admire the confluence of the Black and White Aragvi Rivers, encounter an amazing mineral spring whose waters, under the sunlight, resemble streams of melted gold. And from the People's Friendship Arch, created by the famous architect Zurab Tsereteli, you will enjoy the views of the Aragvi Gorge that will take your breath away!
Gergeti Church at the foot of Kazbek
At the ancient temple, adjacent to the majestic Kazbek, you will not only discover the ancient myths of Gergeti but also the stunning mountain panoramas. It is for such views that travelers seek out Kazbek! You will be inspired by poetic Georgian landscapes and learn about the history of the highest mountain construction in Europe, discover the unusual stone altar of Gergeti, and hear the legend of the pagan idol hidden at the base of the church.

However, in reality, the guide Katie spoke 90% in Eng...

Would give a 5-star review if in the morning the company checked the weather, canceled the trip, and returned the deposit. Driving in heavy snow on such a road to the mountains with a driver talking on the phone, overtaking trucks (and as a result getting a flat tire) - not a pleasant experience... ...
