About this experience
I invite you not on a regular wine tour with visits to wineries and tastings. Instead, I want to take you on a journey to the homeland of wine and winemaking with an 8000-year history - the beautiful Kakheti. To talk about the intricacies of grape production and cultivation, and to introduce you to all types of wine tastings. I also want to share some wine secrets and myths. In the end, you will find your own Georgian wine and discover the beauty and hospitality of the Kakhetian land.
What to expect
Symbols of Kakheti
We will be transported from Tbilisi to the Alazani Valley by the mountain serpentine of Gombori. We will pass through the ancient town of Telavi, where you will see the "Fortress of the Lord." We will talk about the founder of the "European" method of bottling wine - Prince Alexander Chavchavadze in Sighnaghi, who also introduced the production of Georgian sparkling wines and brandies to the country's traditional winemaking culture. The unique vine museum and stunning views of the Alazani Valley near the famous Gremi Castle will be the continuation of our journey. Along the way, I will tell you the history of each place we visit and introduce you to the mentality and life of the people of Kakheti.
5 types of wine tastings
- Amateur tasting at the "Shumi" winery in Sighnaghi and a walk through the grapevine museum.
- Professional tasting at the "Vaziani company" or "Mildiani" winery in Telavi.
- Consumer tasting at the "Kindzmarauli Corporation" in Kvareli and a tour of the workshops of the oldest winery, built in 1533.
- Traditional tasting - wines made in a traditional way in Marani.
- Hedonistic tasting in the "Khareba" tunnel.
Organizational details
- Hedonistic tasting is only held during Rtveli (grape harvest).
- Since no one will rush you or time your journey, lunch will be a little late.
- If we manage to stay on schedule, as a bonus from me, you can participate in a master class on making a Georgian delicacy - Churchkhela.
- The guide reserves the right to adjust the visits to wineries and tastings.
How the tour goes:
- This is an individual tour, and the guide does not gather groups. The tour can be conducted for 5-6 participants by paying the guide an additional 25 euros per each additional participant.
- Individual calculation of the tour cost is possible depending on a larger number, by increasing the number of participants.
What is included in the price, and what is not:
- Included in the price: comfortable transport and drinking water.
- Not included in the price:
- Your meals during the journey and at the hedonistic tasting.
- Museum entrance fees.
- Tastings (as the price depends on the tasting package chosen by the guests).
