About this experience
You've probably heard of the famous wines of Kakheti. Imagine this - out of the 800 grape varieties in the world, around 500 are found in Georgia, and almost half of the Georgian varieties are grown in Kakheti! In a one-day car journey to the Kakhetian kingdom, you will explore the historical and religious landmarks of the region, enjoy magnificent views, ancient architecture, and, of course, taste the legendary wines.
What to Expect
Discovering Beautiful Kakheti
I will tell you the history of each place you visit, you will learn about the life of the Kakhetians, grape cultivation, and wine production. We will talk about the famous primitive artist Niko Pirosmani, who was born here. I will also take you to the estate of the Chavchavadze princes in Tsinandali, where Alexander Griboyedov first met the love of his life - Princess Nino Chavchavadze and later got engaged to her. One of the chapters of "Woe from Wit" was written here, so visiting the estate will give you a glimpse of the special atmosphere of the 19th century. In the New Shuamta Monastery founded in the 16th century by Queen Tinatin, the wife of Kakhetian King Levan, you will hear captivating stories of palace intrigues, see a depiction of the earliest version of the Bagrationi coat of arms, and the miraculous icon of the Hakhul Virgin. Additionally, in the birthplace of Valiko Konstantinovich Mizandari (Mimino), you will see a stunning 1000-year-old plane tree in the sunny city of Telavi, where people often make wishes or take photos as souvenirs.
