About this experience
You will see all the iconic places in the center of Batumi, after which you will set off on picturesque roads to explore the mountainous Adjara. I will show you virgin natural spots and ancient structures, help you understand the local wine, and explain how Andrei the First-Called is related to Georgia.
What to Expect
Main Attractions of Batumi
I will show you the 'business cards' of Batumi in express mode: Rustaveli Avenue, New Boulevard, Drama Theater, Sea Station, Justice House, Ardagan Lake with dancing fountains, and the 'Upside Down' restaurant building resembling an inverted White House. In addition, we will pass by the Neptune Fountain, the 'Face' building, the dolphinarium, the leaning tower of Pisa, and the Acropolis of the local flood. I will tell the history of the creation of all interesting buildings and curious facts about the past and present life of Batumi.
Exploring Mountainous Adjara
We will head towards the village of Sarpi, where you will see the border with Turkey, a waterfall, and the unusual statue of Andrei the First-Called. Next, you will visit the ancient Roman fortress of Apsaros in Gonio, hear the mysterious legend associated with it, and learn how the fortress survived the downfall of six greatest empires in human history. Driving along the picturesque mountain road, we will reach the 48-meter Mahuntseti waterfall and the arched bridge built in the 12th century during the reign of Queen Tamar. I will tell you about the period of her rule, when Georgia reached its greatest flourishing in history.
Wine Tasting and Lunch in a Picturesque Spot
On the way back, we will stop for lunch at a restaurant by the river in the gorge of the Machakhela National Park. Finally, you will taste excellent wine at the Adjarian Wine House and learn a lot about grape varieties and alcohol production methods in different regions of Georgia.
