About this experience
In this fascinating one-day journey, you will see the most interesting natural and historical attractions around Batumi. We will visit the border village of Sarpi with its monument and waterfall, wander around the ancient fortress of Gonio, delve into the history of the Georgian people at the Ethnographic Museum, and enjoy nature at the Botanical Garden.
What to Expect
- Monument with a waterfall, erected in honor of the enlightener of the Georgian people - St. Andrew the First-Called.
- Ancient fortress Gonio dating back to the 1st century: you will see what has survived from it to our days and learn about the history of the cross on the mountain.
- Viewing platform on the top of Mt. Sameba, where we will admire the views of the mountains, sea, and Batumi.
- Georgia's first private ethnographic museum 'Bordzhgalo', where you will get acquainted with the history, traditions, and culture of the Georgian people.
- Holy Trinity Church located on the mountaintop, offering a breathtaking panorama of the Black Sea.
- Batumi Botanical Garden, where you can stroll in the shade of trees, breathe fresh air, and relax from the city hustle and bustle.
Along the way, the guide will tell you about the role of St. Andrew the First-Called in Georgian history, introduce you to local traditions and customs, amaze you with unexpected facts about the country and its past, and gladly answer your questions.
Organizational Details
- The tour is conducted in a comfortable Toyota Prius car
- Upon request, we can also go in a premium comfort Mazda Mpv minivan - the surcharge for it will be €120
- The guide will pick you up from your place of stay in Batumi and drop you back after the excursion. It's best to depart around 09:00-09:30.
