From Batumi to the Wonders of Mountainous Adjara!
About this experience
You will see all the iconic places in the center of Batumi, and then travel along picturesque roads to explore its stunning surroundings. I will show you pristine natural spots and ancient structures, help you discover local wine, and explain the connection between Georgia and St. Andrew the Apostle.
What to Expect
Highlights of Batumi
Before heading out of the city to enjoy ancient and natural attractions, I will show you the 'must-see' spots in Batumi: the main Rustaveli Avenue, New Boulevard, Drama Theatre, Maritime Station, Justice House, Ardagan Lake with dancing fountains, and the 'Upside Down Restaurant' resembling an inverted White House. Additionally, we will pass by the Neptune Fountain, the 'Face' House, the dolphinarium, the Pisa Tower, and the Acropolis of local flooding. I will share the history behind these interesting buildings and fascinating facts about Batumi's past and present.
Amazing Places Beyond the City
We will head towards the village of Sarpi, where you will see the border with Turkey, a waterfall, and the unique statue of St. Andrew the Apostle. Next, you will visit the ancient Roman fortress of Apsaros in Gonio, hear the mysterious legend associated with it, and learn how the fortress survived the downfall of six greatest empires in human history. Driving along a picturesque mountain road, we will reach the 48-meter Makhuntseti waterfall and an arched bridge built in the 12th century during the reign of Queen Tamar. I will narrate about her reign when Georgia reached its peak in history.
Wine Tasting and Lunch in a Scenic Location
On our way back, we will stop for lunch at a riverside restaurant in the gorge of Machakhela National Park. Finally, you will taste excellent wine at the Adjarian Wine House and learn a lot about grape varieties and winemaking methods in different regions of Georgia.
