About this experience
This region is known for its untouched nature, delicious cuisine, and hospitality - on this trip we will show you that this fame is well-deserved! You will be impressed by the landscapes of mountains and the Drina River, take a ride on a narrow-gauge railway and learn its history. You will also visit a cozy village built for Emir Kusturica's film and have lunch at one of the local establishments.
What to expect
The journey will take about 2.5 hours - but our guide will keep you entertained and share interesting stories about this part of the country, its inhabitants, and delicious cuisine. You will admire picturesque landscapes from the window, and upon arrival, you will see:
Podrinje Gates - from this observation deck, you will have a breathtaking view of the green mountains and the Drina River.
House on the Drina River - we will reach the town of Bajina Bašta, located at the foot of Mount Tara. Here you will see the charming house in the middle of the river, featured in National Geographic.
Šargan Eight Heritage Railway: hurry to catch the departure of the vintage train! Authentic wagons with wooden seats, a wood stove, and the clatter will transport you back to 1925, when this railway connected Belgrade to the Adriatic Sea. During stops, you can enjoy the views of Mokra Gora from the observation decks.
Drvengrad (Wooden City). This settlement was built for the movie 'Life is a Miracle' by director Emir Kusturica. Destroyed wooden chalets were brought from the slopes of the mountains, restored, and equipped with amenities - you will stroll among these cozy houses and will want to photograph each one. Afterward, we will have lunch at one of the establishments: the cuisine of Western Serbia is spicy and incredibly delicious!
Then we will head back to Belgrade, where we will arrive closer to the evening.
