About this experience
Western Serbia is the most picturesque part of the country. You will pass through the famous Tara National Park with mountains, rivers and forests. Visit the city of princes and Serbian hierarchs Valjevo. Admire the Drina River Canyon, visit the medieval Racha Monastery, and see the shortest Serbian river.
What to expect
- Valjevo city - we will tell you how in the early 19th century it became the center of the anti-Turkish revolution. And during the First World War, it turned into the military capital of Serbia.
- Debelo Brdo Mountain - you will ride through the mountain pass, enjoying picturesque views.
- Drina River Canyon - the third deepest canyon in the world. You will learn why in the past the Drina was a border river, how it separated the Orthodox and Catholic worlds, and why it is called "zeljenika".
- House on the Drina - from the viewing platform, you will see a house located on a small island between two states.
- Racha Monastery - built in the 13th century, it was destroyed several times and rebuilt. We will reveal when it reached its peak of power, how many years it spent in oblivion, and what important monument of Serbian literature found shelter here during the years of the Second World War.
- Vrelo River - the shortest river in Serbia. Its length from the source to the mouth is only 365 meters. You will learn why the water temperature in it remains at ten degrees Celsius all year round and what capricious fish lives in it.
