You will also hear legends about the vampire from the town of Bajina Bašta, taste the freshest trout in Perućac, and learn about amazing projects for local hydroelectric power stations.
What to expect
Colorful Bajina Bašta and Perućac
In the first town at the foot of Tara, you will hear legends about the Serbian vampire - Sava Savanović, who lived in the vicinity. You will see the famous 'stubborn' house nestled amidst the turbulent waters of the Drina. You will also pass through the small but interesting town of Perućac. Find out why the local river was named 'Year,' taste dishes made from the freshest trout, and be amazed by the hydroelectric power station that not every, even large city, can boast of.
Fascinating views of the river and lake
As you ascend the winding road, not very steep or scary, you will discover a magnificent panorama of the Drina, meandering below, and the lake near the dam. Learn about the grand project to create the high-altitude Zaovine Lake, which powers the hydroelectric power station. On a sunny day, you will admire the water's smooth surface, shimmering in various shades of emerald. And after a stroll on Tara's mountain paths to observation platforms, where you can take fantastic photos.
🏡 This journey will end, but if you don't feel like returning to the city hustle and bustle, you can stay and spend the night in one of the charming mountain houses to extend your acquaintance with Western Serbia for at least a day, where you will find Kustendorf, the Shargan Eight, Sokograda, and other interesting places.

- The program can be combined with a trip to Mokra Gora with an overnight stay in a mountain cabin on Tara. Or with a trip to Sokograda with a night at a cozy ethno-complex on the banks of the Drina, where we can arrange boat rides and fishing for you.
