What to expect
Polish Middle Ages
Torun almost did not suffer during the Second World War, preserving its medieval architecture and unique atmosphere which you will enjoy during the walk. We will explore the local 'Leaning Tower', Krzywa Wieza, stroll through the Market Square and the streets of the Old Town passing by the Town Hall and the knight's castle where the famous Court of Artus took place, allowing merchants, nobles, and craftsmen to interact on equal terms. We will see the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist with the 7-ton 'Lord's Trumpet' bell, the Church of Saint James covered with glazed bricks, and the Franciscan Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In the footsteps of Nicolaus Copernicus
Of course, our tour will not overlook the most famous scholar of Torun - Nicolaus Copernicus. You will see the gothic house where the man who 'moved the Earth and stopped the Sun' was born: today the Nicolaus Copernicus Museum is located here. And, of course, you will learn the most interesting facts about the life and scientific path of the Polish astronomer.
