About this experience
We will introduce you to the beautiful Gdansk, whose history spans over 1000 years! You will learn about its connection to the Teutonic Order and experience the atmosphere of the gloomy Middle Ages. Appreciate the Gothic and Baroque architecture and learn to distinguish between these styles. Find out what a free city is and enjoy picturesque views.
What to expect
- You will see one of the largest brick basilicas in the world - St. Mary's Cathedral, as well as the famous amber market located nearby
- At Dlugi Targ, you will meet Gdansk's Neptune and peek into the courtyard of the main town hall
- Through the water gates, you will reach the Gdansk waterfront of the Motlawa River, where the medieval port was located and lively trade thrived for centuries, now home to restaurants and cafes
- Understand how wars, destruction, and reconstructions shaped the unique appearance of the city and find answers to questions - like whose is Gdansk after all and what is a free city
