About this experience
Rebuilt and ruled by bishops, Würzburg incorporates fragments of Parisian chic, French coziness, and truly German spirit. You will get acquainted with the history and traditions of this charming town, explore rococo and baroque buildings, and also taste local Riesling with sausages and take a boat ride to the neighboring Veitshöchheim.
What to expect
Must-see places in Würzburg
You will visit two main squares - Cathedral and Market, learn about the first knight's tournament in Germany and other iconic events of the city. You will explore the expressive architecture of St. Kilian's Cathedral, Marienkapelle, and Pilgrimage Cathedral Neumünster. You will find out what the ancient bridge over the Main River is famous for. And you will climb the hill to the fortress Marienberg, from which beautiful panoramas of the surroundings open up. You will also stroll in the gardens of the former Würzburg Residence, a masterpiece of South German baroque and one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe, where we will talk about the powerful prince-bishops.
A friendly tour without a salad of facts
Our journey is primarily about mood, so I will not overload you with excessive dates, names, and historical references. Instead, you will discover the most atmospheric, including lesser-known corners of Würzburg. Resting among the city vineyards, you will hear about the wine traditions of Franconia. If desired, you can taste local Riesling and snack on traditional Würzburg sausages. I will also suggest taking a romantic boat trip on the 'Old Love' boat to the neighboring Veitshöchheim.
To conclude the tour, I will be happy to help you plan a visit to the museums and wine cellars of Würzburg.
