About this experience
I invite you to an exciting journey through the streets and squares of Strasbourg, preserving the legends of ancient times. You will walk through the historic center and the charming district of Little France, where canals fan out from the river Ill, and on the bridge stand formidable yet very romantic watchtowers.
What to expect
Strasbourg through the centuries
Keltic village, Roman camp, Frank castle and flourishing medieval city - I will help you 'read' the interesting and dramatic history of Strasbourg, captured in the stone monuments, palaces and churches. You will learn when the free imperial city became a French province, how Catholics reconciled with Protestants there and why the New City appeared in Strasbourg.
Squares, palaces, cathedrals and more
The starting point of our walk is the dizzying Notre-Dame Cathedral. I will tell you about its creators and how the appearance of the temple changed during the three centuries of construction. In addition, you will see the magnificent palace of the Bishop of Strasbourg, the eerie Raven Bridge and the cozy Place du Marché Gayot. You will find the houses where Goethe liked to visit and where Mozart gave a concert, examine the monument to Gutenberg and the oldest church in the city, St. Thomas' Church.
Enchanting Little France
Finally, a picturesque Little France awaits you, where you will enjoy panoramas of locks and canals, bridges and towers above the river Ill. You will also climb to the observation deck on the Vauban dam and be impressed by the magnificent view of the Old Town.
