About this experience
You will see ancient squares, churches, bridges and sculptures. Learn about the imperial capital's origins, the lives of medieval burghers, Nuremberg's contribution to world culture, and the people it can be proud of.
What to expect
Nuremberg at your fingertips
You will visit the courtyards of the Imperial Castle and enjoy a panoramic view of the city from a height. You will see Durer's house, St. Sebaldus Church, and the sculpture of the 'monstrous' hare in the square at the Zitadelle gate. Examine masterpieces of medieval sculpture, uncover the symbolism of the Town Hall and the Fembohaus palace. I will lead you through the courtyards to the ancient fountain 'Boy with Geese' and tell you its anecdotal legend. I will also show you the bench with the best gingerbread in town and a home brewery where you can try red beer if you wish.
Market Square and River Pegnitz
You will see the Market Square, the Church of Our Lady, and the fountain where you can spin the 'Ring of Happiness.' Through the 'Ship of Fools,' you will reach the River Pegnitz and enjoy the best views of Nuremberg. I will show you the Butchers' Bridge and reveal the secret of why the bull depicted on it was never a calf. You will also see the Church of St. Lawrence and hear the legends of the fountains 'Marriage Carousel' and 'Fifer.'
Local Venice and Executioner's Bridge
You will stroll through 'Nuremberg's Venice' and be impressed by its magnificent views. Cross the wooden Executioner's Bridge to the picturesque island of 'Old People' and, if you wish, visit the Crafts Courtyard, where you can eat sausages and buy souvenirs. Additionally, I will show you the luxurious opera house, the grand courtyard of 16th-century architects, the medieval crafts market, the Tower of Our Lady, and Germany's first train.
Iconic places of the city
You will learn about the Gothic church of Nuremberg praised by Pushkin, see the oldest settlement in the city, walk along picturesque streets of chimney sweeps and bakers, find the house where Albrecht Durer worked, and the monument to the Orthodox synagogue. You will also discover the unexpected side of Royal Street, explore the quarter around the National Museum, see the ancient Arsenal, the pantheon of Elisabeth, and the Gothic churches of Clara and Martha.
