About this experience
Join me to explore the main attractions of Southern Cappadocia! You will walk along wooden paths along the river and cliffs in the Ihlara Valley, explore the ancient underground city of Kaymakli, and visit the rock-cut Selime Monastery. Discover how this amazing region was formed, how the first Christians lived here, and what is happening in these places today.
What to Expect
Walk through the Ihlara Valley
In the Ihlara Valley, you will walk along equipped wooden paths, peeking into cliff churches with ancient frescoes and paintings. The landscape of Ihlara differs from the usual Cappadocian landscape - there is a lot of greenery, a river flows, and birds sing. After the walk, we will stop by a cozy restaurant by the water and try dishes of local cuisine.
Cave Monastery and Underground City
We will visit the highest rock monastery in Cappadocia - Selime. You will learn who lived there and how life was organized. Then we will head to the underground city of Kaymakli, where the first Christians hid from persecution. Finally, we will ascend to the panoramic platform of the Pigeon Valley and enjoy a breathtaking view of the surroundings.
