About this experience
The green route passes through the southern part of Cappadocia. The red route covers the northern part. In our journey, we will combine both! We will see valleys with fantastic natural sculptures made of lava. Visit the rock castle, underground city of Kaymakli, and cave monastery of Selime. See one of the largest canyons in the world. And we will discuss the historical events that have affected these places.
What to expect
- Valley of Love, located in Central Anatolia, is considered the pearl of Cappadocia. The most striking feature of the valley is natural formations resembling chimney stacks.
- Uchisar Castle, carved into rock, is an ancient defensive structure that protected Christians from Roman persecution and served as a lookout fort during the Seljuk and Beylik periods.
- Pigeon Valley, or Guvercinlik Valley, stretches from Uchisar to Goreme for 4 km. The valley got its name from the numerous pigeon nests nestled in the cliffs.
- Underground city of Kaymakli, carved into tuff rocks during the Hittite era, has eight levels. This space includes rooms and halls connected by narrow corridors, wine and water cellars, warehouses with supplies, ventilation shafts, wells, and even a church.
- Ihlara Valley - a volcanic canyon about 14 km long, considered one of the largest in the world.
- Cave monastery complex of Selime on the edge of Ihlara Valley. Its main attractions are the cathedral, churches, and caravan routes - must-see locations of Cappadocia.
- Goreme Valley with whimsical sculptures made of lava, shaped by wind and water over centuries. You will climb a hill and see fantastic landscapes of the neighboring valleys - Pink and Red.
