About this experience
Landscapes created by volcanoes millions of years ago, cave cities, early Christian monuments: on this journey, the symbols of Cappadocia will unfold before you! In a group of up to 18 people, you will stroll through unearthly valleys, explore millennia-old rock monasteries and the fortress town of Uchisar, and then immerse yourself in the crafts in the pottery town of Avanos.
What to Expect
During the journey along the 'Red Route', you will discover the main natural locations of the Göreme National Park and explore the cave settlements of Cappadocia, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In one day, we will visit:
- Uchisar Fortress Town, where you will immerse yourself in the culture of the ancient Hittite civilization and admire the panoramas of the Land of Beautiful Horses from the observation deck.
- Open-Air Museum in Zelve, which includes two dozen rock monasteries. You will visit churches carved in soft volcanic rock and examine the preserved colorful frescoes from the 11th-12th centuries.
- Valleys of Love, Monks, and Imagination - symbols of alien Cappadocia. Each of the valleys has its own atmosphere, history, and characteristic landscape: you will encounter long stone columns, sandy dunes, and mushroom-shaped rocks.
- Potter's town of Avanos, where you will soak up the local color, visit a pottery workshop-museum, and get acquainted with the traditional applied art of the region.
