About this experience
This excursion will show you a different side of Cappadocia beyond the soaring hot air balloons (they are not included in the program!). I will immerse you in the ancient history, way of life, and customs of the early local inhabitants. You will see hidden gems most people miss, along with the classic highlights of the region, and sense the ancient spirit of Cappadocia.
What to Expect
- Uchisar Fortress: Dive into the history of the Hittite civilization and admire the landscapes of Cappadocia.
- 5-Storey Fairytale Chimney: Explore a house and cave once inhabited by Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans. It's now a cozy cafe.
- Ortahisar Fortress: Observe this town resembling an anthill from a viewpoint.
- Goreme Valley: Visit nearly invisible externally, rock-cut Christian churches hidden in caves.
- Avanos Town, renowned for pottery craft: Get acquainted with the works of Turkish masters, inspect their products, and discover their manufacturing techniques.
- Derinkuyu Underground City: Beneath whimsical termite-like rocks, explore another invisible reality consisting of underground cities and villages.
- Hospital Monastery: Admire a unique example of rock architecture dating back to the Byzantine era, appreciate mysterious geometric shapes, and imagine the spiritual life peculiarities of early Christians.
