About this experience
I invite you to discover the wonderful Regensburg through history, legends, tales, and poems. You will learn why it is called the oldest and youngest city in Germany, what events took place on its land, why it was not destroyed by war, and what it is like today.
What to Expect
Regensburg through the centuries
You will see the oldest city gates in Germany and remember the tragedy of the great Marcus Aurelius. You will learn how the first sausage kitchen in the world appeared and why the number of sausages served there is always even. You will also explore the salt house, walk along the ancient stone bridge, hear about the medieval shelter, and imagine the stories that unfolded within the walls of the Golden Cross inn.
All the iconic places of the city
I will unravel the mysteries of the lovely St. Peter's Cathedral, show you the courtyard of the former episcopal residence, the Fountain of the Preaching Goose, the monument to Don Juan of Austria, the historical building of the Reichstag, and the Ducal Church. I will also explain how the 2000-year-old Regensburg was not destroyed by war and why one of the Bavarian kings called it the 'Sacred City of the German Nation'.
