About this experience
By Christmas, Prague turns into a fairytale: adorned with lights and Christmas decorations, dusted with fluffy snow, enveloped in scents of trdelnik, gingerbread, and fresh Christmas trees. We will walk through the iconic places of the city, visit Christmas markets, warm up with mulled wine, and discuss how the Czechs celebrate the winter holidays.
What to expect
Sightseeing tour of the winter city
We will start with the country's main Christmas tree at Old Town Square. Explore the Old Town, walk across Charles Bridge, visit Prague Castle. On Kampa Island, admire the water mill and the Čertovka river. And of course, visit the Christmas markets with souvenirs and tempting treats: try the famous trdelnik, as well as hot mulled wine, chocolate, or sweet mead!
Czech-style celebration
We will talk about Czech Christmas and New Year traditions. Learn how they choose Christmas trees and what gifts they exchange, how Christmas and New Year celebrations differ in the Czech Republic. I will tell you the story behind trdelnik and why it's called that, why Czechs carry a fish scale in their wallets, about other omens and unusual treats. At the end of the tour, each person will receive a pleasant surprise :-)
I will also share the best places to relax, recommend restaurants and breweries in Prague where you can try Czech beer and local dishes. I'll advise on what to bring back from Prague and which souvenir shops to visit.
