About this experience
In the last week of November, Prague plunges into the atmosphere of Advent - the anticipation of the brightest, shimmering with a variety of holiday lights. Full of treats, gifts, kindness, and love. Prague is waiting for Christmas! I invite you to immerse yourself in this magical, extraordinarily exciting atmosphere. Christmas markets, concerts in all Prague churches, exhibitions of nativity scenes. And, of course, numerous street performances of dancers and singers - all this awaits you from November 28 to January 6.
What to Expect
We will pre-plan the route taking into account your preferences. In the meantime, I suggest some of the main highlights of Christmas Prague.
- You can start the walk from the country's main Christmas tree in Old Town Square. Numerous Czech craftsmen will offer you their products. Gourmets will enjoy the famous Prague ham - juicy pieces of pork will be cut in front of your eyes from the roasting carcass. Sausages roasted over an open fire, garnished with lively mustard and freshly grated horseradish will not leave anyone indifferent. Are you a vegetarian? Then try crispy gingerbread with sugar icing or trdelniks - delicious tubes of puff pastry. And, of course, you will be treated to mulled wine - hot wine with various spices.
- Then we will stroll through the streets of the Old Town, and I will tell you about Czech traditions and Christmas customs. Let's not forget about Sylvester - that's what the Czechs call New Year's.
- On Charles Bridge, we will admire the beauty of the Vltava River, which plays a very important role as the 'River of Desires' in Christmas celebrations.
- On Kampa Island, we will admire the products of potters and glassblowers, and you will be able to buy gifts for yourself and your loved ones.
- In Lesser Town, we will definitely visit the Church of Our Lady Victorious to the miraculous Infant Jesus - after all, he is the main culprit of the upcoming Christmas. If we're lucky, we will hear the solemn chants of the Barefoot Carmelite monks.
- Then... then you can go for lunch or dinner at any of the restaurants you like. And if you have the strength and desire, you can go to Hradcany. In the Capuchin Monastery during Advent, you can see a unique nativity scene - a place of pilgrimage for tourists from all over the world. And for the first time in Prague Castle, a Christmas market has been organized, which awaits everyone who comes with a heart open to love and kindness.
