What to Expect

Christmas at the main attractions
The journey will start at the Royal Square, where every Christmas Eve a festive gastronomic fair takes place. From there, you will head to the Nyhavn canal, surrounded on both sides by gingerbread colorful houses, where the characters of Hans Christian Andersen lived. The fairytale writer himself once lived here. You will also ascend the steps of one of the four mansions of the current Amalienborg royal palace, where brave royal guards stand watch. Then, you will walk along the brightly decorated pedestrian street Strøget to the Round Tower from "The Tinderbox" and try to imagine the size of the dog from this fairy tale. In the medieval part of the city, you will hear about the history of those centuries in Copenhagen. You will see the oldest city square, the pillory, and the gallows where a soldier, daring to see the princess, prepared to be executed. The executioners did not know that the soldier had a magical tinderbox in his pocket. To diversify the walk, you will visit one of the oldest restaurants in the city, where Andersen liked to dine.

Entertainment and Treats
The tour will continue at the entrance to the old Tivoli Park, which shines with 2,500,000 lights at Christmas. The festive and miraculous atmosphere around you can be enhanced at the large and hospitable market nearby. In Denmark, you must try Christmas pickles - various types of herring, lightly salted salmon, fresh Greenland prawns, smoked eel, North Sea flounder, hot glazed pork loin with crispy crackling, delicious duck with apples, prunes, and caramelized potatoes. And what is Christmas without gifts? Participants of the tour can expect a mandatory purely Danish gift!
