I will be your guide to Prague - the most mysterious, mystical, and atmospheric city. We will take a walk through the four Prague towns and travel back in time to the Middle Ages with its castles and churches, legends of knights and alchemists. Don't worry, you will definitely return to our fast-paced era, but for now - let's go!
What to expect
Iconic places of the New Town
We will start our walk from Wenceslas Square: explore the modern center of Prague and learn about the amazing history of the New Town. We will pass through a unique complex of passages, where there are streets without names, continuously operating 19th-century elevators, and the provocative sculpture by the controversial Czech master David Cerny. Then, through the monastery paradise garden, we will stroll to the Church of Our Lady of the Snows: you will learn where the unusual name came from and what painting adorns the famous altarpiece of the cathedral, what baroque "artificial marble" is and how it is created.
Stories of the Old Townspeople
In the oldest district of Prague, you will visit the active Strahov Monastery, where you will hear stories about Saint Norbert and the order of Premonstratensian monks. You will walk past beautiful Baroque religious buildings and learn the mysterious story of the diamonds adorning the "Prague Sun" - the diamond carrier made by Viennese jewelers in the pilgrimage complex of Loreto - a unique repository of Catholic treasures. I will reveal many secrets: what is the devil's bible and where it is now, when the Capuchins came to Prague and how they annoyed Ticho Brahe, whether Petrin Tower resembles the Eiffel Tower, when gas lighting came to Prague?
Fairy-tale Prague Castle
You will visit the largest presidential residence in the world - Prague Castle, where royal treasures are kept and the remains of the Bohemian kings rest. You will hear the history of the creation of the fortress and visit its dominant feature - St. Vitus Cathedral, shrouded in mystical secrets. You will see the Old Royal Palace and admire the stunning panorama of the fairy-tale Prague from the terraces of the Southern Gardens.
Walk through Mala Strana
And then we will stroll through the romantic Mala Strana: you will see the narrowest street in Prague with its own traffic light, be charmed by the Wallenstein and Vojan Gardens with magnificent peacocks strolling and golden carp swimming in the transparent pond, visit the "Swan Beach". You will also see the picturesque Devil's Channel in Prague's Venice, the Kissing Bridge, and the watermill with the main "waterman" Josef.
Medieval spirit of the Old Town
Then we will cross the Charles Bridge - a masterpiece of medieval construction, where you must make a wish! Through the Crusaders' Square, where "Father of the Nation" Charles IV will meet us, we will reach the heart of Prague - Old Town Square. On the way, we will peek into a luxurious church and admire a huge crystal chandelier in the shape of an imperial crown. You will also learn: where was the residence of the mysterious Templar order, how Jan Hus was burned, why Mozart adored Prague and how he was connected with Casanova, what legends surround the famous Prague Astronomical Clock - you will certainly become spectators of a minute theatrical performance! Feel tired? Then it's time to recharge in a Czech tavern!
