Oh, Rome, You Are the Whole World!
About this experience
The title of my tour is a quote from Goethe. I am sure you will share his opinion by walking along the classic route from the Colosseum to the Trevi Fountain, from Piazza Navona to the Pantheon. You will discover Rome in the ruins of the Ancient world, in the era of the Renaissance, and in the masterpieces of the Baroque. I will decipher what you see, help you not to get lost in the happiness and abundance of monuments, and give useful tips from a local resident.
What to Expect
A Route Following History
Step by step, we will walk together from Antiquity to the Rome of the 21st century and back.
- The starting point of the walk is at the majestic Colosseum. You will learn when and why it was built and imagine how the amphitheater looked in the past.
- We will feel the power of the Roman Empire on the Forums street, and then climb the Capitoline Hill. We will admire the views from the panoramic platform, find the legendary she-wolf, and approach the era of the Renaissance at the Michelangelo Square with its perfect lines.
- Next, you will see the snow-white building of the "Altar of the Fatherland" on Piazza Venezia - a memory of the kings of unified Italy.
- You will travel back a couple of centuries to Baroque Rome, during the papal rule. Perform the obligatory Roman ritual by throwing a coin into the Trevi Fountain and admire Piazza Navona. Among its luxurious fountains, we will talk about the subtleties of the "baroque" style born in Rome and the rivalry between sculptors Bernini and Borromini.
- We will end with Antiquity: an external inspection of the monumental Pantheon, the temple of all gods awaits you.
