What to Expect
- Our adventure will begin at the majestic Colosseum. You will admire its magnificent architecture from the outside and learn about the construction tricks used in Antiquity.
- We will talk about Nero's Golden House, the Flavian emperors, and the Roman people's favorites - the gladiators.
- Next, we will head to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, where you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Ancient Rome and learn about ancient pagan festivals - the Vestalia and Saturnalia.
- On the Capitoline Hill, we will recall the story of Romulus and Remus. We will explore the Arch of Septimius Severus and discuss the phenomenon of triumphs - how significant they were for the emperors.
- Our path will then lead us to Piazza Venezia, where you will enjoy the beauty of the place and the blend of styles used by the best masters of the late 19th century. Here, I will tell you about the unification of Italy, the King of the Savoy Empire, and the national hero Giuseppe Garibaldi.
- You will also see the Vittoriano Monument, Venice Palace, and hear the history of Via del Corso street. In the delightful inner courtyard of the palace, you will admire the tallest palm trees in Rome.
- We will walk along the Via Plebiscito and through narrow streets towards the Church of St. Ignatius, where you will appreciate the beauty of Andrea Pozzo's ceiling and learn about the history of the Jesuit movement.
- We will admire the "dancing" houses in the Burro district.
- Next, we will visit the Pantheon, a building with a stunning dome architecture. We will enter, explore the building and each of its chapels, including the tombs of Raphael and Italian kings. Here, you will hear an intriguing story about Emperor Hadrian, who conceived the project in the 2nd century AD.
- We will visit Piazza Navona with its beautiful fountains and enchanting atmosphere. You will learn about the history of the place, starting from Domitian's stadium, the story of Agnes's murder, and the rivalry of the two geniuses who adorned the square. Nearby is the Church of St. Louis - we will go inside to admire Caravaggio's originals, as well as the richness and splendor of the temple.
- Our next stop is the Stone Square, striking with a combination of classical forms and ancient Corinthian columns from the time of Hadrian.
- Afterwards, we will find ourselves in the official center of Rome - at Column Square. I will tell you about its role in the city's history and introduce you to local monuments: you will see a column from the 2nd century, Kidji and Vedekind palaces, as well as the Sordi Gallery.
- We will head towards the famous Trevi Fountain, where you can make a wish by tossing a coin and discover the history of the fountain dating back to the 1st century BC.
- Passing by the Academy of St. Luke, we will head to Spanish Square with its famous Spanish Steps, where you will hear about the most famous flood and the masterpiece associated with it.
- Walking along Babuino street with its luxurious boutiques and hotels, we will reach People's Square, resembling theatrical platforms. We will delve into its 2000-year history, linked to the wandering ghost of Emperor Nero, the arrival of Queen Christina of Sweden, and the triumph of Giuseppe Valadier.
