About this experience
Our walk is for those who are about to have a happy encounter with Rome. In a couple of hours, you will create a complete image of the ancient city, and its sights will not just be points on a map. You will get to know and love Rome, walking from the Colosseum to Piazza Navona, peeking into the Jewish Quarter, and hearing the secrets of the past.
What to expect
Classics and hidden corners of the city
The walk will start with, perhaps, the main symbol of the Eternal City - the Colosseum - and the captivating history of the amphitheater. At the Arch of Constantine, you will uncover one of the reasons for the fall of Ancient Rome, and then see the Theatre of Marcellus, the 'grandfather of the Colosseum'. Nearby, you will find the streets of the Jewish Ghetto and the sad fate of this district.
From the top of Capitoline Hill, you will overlook the Roman Forum, where Rome began, and understand the peculiarities of Michelangelo's creation. Piazza Venezia will introduce you to the era of Italy's unification. You will enjoy the views from the viewpoint of the 'Altar of the Fatherland', see the balcony from which Mussolini spoke, and the Bonaparte Palace.
Of course, the route will cover the romantic Trevi Fountain and the thousand-year-old temple of all gods, the Pantheon. The finale of the walk is the magnificent Piazza Navona with its three fountains. Here you will touch the genius of Bernini and recall scenes from 'Eat, Pray, Love' with Julia Roberts.
Believe me, there will be many more surprises. For example, you will peek into a couple of extraordinary churches and even find a house of cats!
Rome off the guidebook
You will see Rome as it is: with a grand layer of history and modern energy. The walk will be filled with interesting facts without an abundance of dates and numbers, legends, and stories from the lives of ancient Romans. And the guide will share useful information: where to have a delicious dinner, how to avoid queues, what to pay attention to beyond the city, and where to buy travel souvenirs.
