Museums and Galleries of Tbilisi: Group Excursion Overview
About this experience
I will tell you about Georgian art, after which you will be able to independently explore the exhibits, trace the evolution of the Georgian art scene; get acquainted with traditional crafts, including weaponry; uncover the symbolism and cultural aspects in Georgian art and realize its role in the country's history. Our program includes visits to Zurab Tsereteli Museum, Georgian Weapons Museum, Blue Gallery, as well as Art Museum and National Museum.
What to Expect
- I will talk about the development and trends of contemporary Georgian art.
- We will discuss unique techniques and crafts passed down from generation to generation, including wood carving and the creation of national costumes.
- You will learn how art reflected and influenced historical events, social movements, and cultural changes in Georgia. This way, you will better understand the context and significance of the artworks.
- We will examine important moments in the history of military art and weaponry.
- Additionally, I will explain the importance of symbols, themes, and motifs used in Georgian art and their connection to mythology, religion, and national identity.
Zurab Tsereteli Museum. Here you will find over 300 works by the prominent artist, including his vivid and expressive paintings, sculptures, and installations. You will delve into the world of contemporary Georgian art and see how the master expressed his thoughts, ideas, and emotions through his works.
Blue Gallery. A cultural space created by Zurab Tsereteli, featuring exhibitions of his works as well as works by other artists. The paintings here do not just hang on the walls but interact with the surrounding architecture, creating interesting impressions for visitors. You will appreciate the variety of styles and themes and get an insight into Georgia's contemporary artistic community.
Art Museum. You will also visit one of the largest and most significant art museums in Georgia. You will see artworks from different eras and styles, gaining a good understanding of the evolution of art in the region.
Georgian Weapons Museum. The museum houses a rich collection of traditional weapons used in various times. You will learn about Georgian military art and examine different types of weapons, each with its own unique history and symbolic meaning: swords, sabers, daggers, arrows.
National Museum. Additionally, you will visit the largest cultural institution in the country. Its collection is dedicated to history, archaeology, ethnography, and art. By examining the exhibits, you will embark on a fascinating journey through Georgia.

For people interested in art, culture, history, especially those visiting Tbilisi for the first time and wanting to deepen their understanding of the local culture. The program is suitable for all ages and knowledge levels. It may also appeal to those who appreciate contemporary art and seek new experiences. Please note: all museums are visited without a guide.

— Blue Gallery — 5 lari for adults, 0.5 lari for children
— Art Museum — 15 lari for adults, 5 lari for children under 6
— Georgian Weapons Museum — 10 lari for adults, 3 lari for children under 6
— National Museum — 12 lari for adults, 4 lari for children under 6 - Museums are closed on Mondays (hence these days are unavailable in the calendar).
