• We start the excursion with a walk through the cozy streets of the old town to Svetitskhoveli, the cathedral patriarchal cathedral and UNESCO World Heritage Site. We learn about the history of the spiritual center and the baptism of Georgia. Svetitskhoveli is not only a unique monument of medieval architecture and the burial place of the Bagrationi dynasty from the 13th century, it is the living history of the country. It is impossible to understand Georgia without this temple, impossible to overvalue the significance of this place...
• Samtavro Monastery - a complex of the Samtavro Transfiguration Church and the women's convent of St. Nina. The church was built in the 4th century by King Mirian, who baptized Georgia. The temple was repeatedly destroyed and restored. In the first half of the 11th century, during the reign of George I, by the decree of Catholicos Melchizedek, the temple was expanded, southern gates were added, and decorated with original ornamentation.
• Next, we go to Jvari - a monastery from the 7th century on top of the mountain, offering a breathtaking view of the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura (Mtkvari) rivers. The organic combination with the surrounding landscape, antiquity, and well-groomed appearance will leave an unforgettable impression. Many have told me that they fell in love with Georgia right here. Perhaps it was here that Lermontov also fell in love with her, for there is no creativity without love.
• On the way to Jvari, we have lunch at a restaurant - inexpensive, tasty, and colorful.
