Mountain Friendship: Kazbegi and Dariali Gorge
About this experience
In northern Georgia, there is a region where one part is located in Europe and the other in Asia. This is Kazbegi - a district around Mount Kazbek, known for its breathtaking landscapes and amazing sights. Here you will immerse yourself in the beauty of the mountain rivers and gorges of the Caucasus, the grandeur of ancient historical structures in Ananuri, and the special serenity in the Gergeti church.
What to Expect
Get ready to discover the diverse Georgia! On a one-day group trip to Kazbegi, you will see the best places in our country: from picturesque plains to the Dariali Gorge and the snow-capped peak of Mount Kazbek. You will hear legends and historical facts about each place on our way - it will be interesting, not exhausting, and not cliché.
Trip Itinerary
- The first stop - and you are surrounded by magical beauty. This is the Zhinvali Reservoir. 520 million cubic meters of turquoise water fill the deep gorge. A spectacle that you can't take your eyes off!
- Next stop is at the architectural complex Ananuri - the former residence of the Aragvi princes.
- We will head to the confluence of two mountain rivers near the village of Pasanauri. Each stream has its own color: you will see how the waters of the two rivers flow parallel to each other without mixing.
- Here we will have lunch - you will try the local khinkali that Pasanauri is famous for. And if desired, you can ride the zipline.
- Our journey will continue through the Cross Pass to Gudauri with a stop at the panoramic viewing platform from the Soviet era called 'Friendship of Peoples'.
- Upon arrival in Kazbegi, we will switch to off-road vehicles and ascend to the Trinity Church at an altitude of 2170 meters above sea level. On a clear day, you will enjoy a mesmerizing view of the famous Mount Kazbek, which is rightfully called the 'shy bride'.
- After Kazbegi, we will visit the Dariali Gorge and discuss the history of these places: the guide will explain why the gorge is called the 'Gates of the Alans' in translation from Farsi.
- Closer to evening, we return to Tbilisi via the Military-Georgian Road.
Organizational Details

We left Tbilisi around 9 in the morning and returned around 19-20 in the evening. We were taken to Zhinva...

Maybe it was less interesting for the English-speaking part of the group because not everything was translated all the time, but we are very pleased with the story. About the Daryal Gorge, mentioned in the tour's name, we even ...
