Embarking on this excursion, remember that you are following a historical path that has connected Transcaucasia and the North Caucasus since ancient times. The description of the Military-Georgian Road can be found even among the ancient Greeks, and they were surely impressed by its unimaginable beauties. You will visit the ancient capital of Georgia, discover the resort of Gudauri – it is here that you will admire the beautiful panorama of mountains and a lake deep below, and it is here that you will feel the power of the local nature. From the observation platform on Mount Gergeti, you will see the snow-capped peaks, the valley, and the majestic Kazbek. And the winding Darial Gorge will amaze you with its almost sheer cliffs reaching into the sky for kilometers.
Georgian heritage
But the Military-Georgian Road is famous not only for its natural beauty. On your way, you will encounter fortresses, cathedrals, and towers that will tell you a lot about the country's history. In the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta, you will find one of the oldest Christian churches – Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. It is here that the robe of the Savior is kept! On the shore of the Zhinvali Reservoir, you will visit Ananuri Complex, where you will learn all about the political life of 18th century Georgia. And on top of the green mountain, you will enter an architectural wonder – Gergeti Trinity Church, built back in the 14th century and named after the Trinity.
