Kakheti - the homeland of wine, chacha, and beauty!
About this experience
Epochs have changed, empires have risen and fallen, but Kakheti as the homeland of wine has always existed. Discover this picturesque and blessed land on our group tour of up to 15 people. You will visit the Alazani Valley and Bodbe Monastery, stroll through the towns of Sighnaghi and Telavi. Learn who the Kakhetians are, hear the region's history, and understand the peculiarities of Georgian winemaking.
What to expect
Flavors of Kakheti. We depart from the center of Tbilisi and on the way to our first destination, we will stop at two Kakhetian villages. In Badiauri, you will see how traditional Shoti bread is baked and taste it with cheese (about 30 minutes). And in Manavi, you will appreciate Georgian Snickers - churchkhela - and homemade wine (35-40 minutes).
Bodbe Monastery among cypresses. This is the resting place of Saint Nino, so here you will learn about the fate of Georgia's enlightener and the beginning of Georgian Orthodox history.
Georgia + Italy = Sighnaghi. You will see that this place is rightfully called the city of love: stroll through romantic streets with wooden balconies. You will also walk through an ancient fortress, admiring the Alazani Valley at your feet.
Telavi: Mimino and wine. In the capital of Kakheti, you will remember a character from a legendary movie, see a 1000-year-old plane tree, and the palace of King Irakli II. Then you will taste 8 types of wine and chacha in a wine cellar: meanwhile, the sommelier will talk about Georgian winemaking, which is fundamentally different from methods in other countries.
And we will also give you a bonus - a walking tour of Tbilisi with one of the city's best guides.
