About this experience
Kakheti is not only the homeland of wine, but also an amazing land rich in history and architecture. During this journey through this ancient and beautiful region, you will visit ancient monasteries with special sacred significance for the Georgian people, stroll through the romantic town of Sighnaghi, learn about the intricacies of wine production in the famous mountain cellar, explore the variety of scents of the national cuisine, visit the estate of Tsinandali, and see a 900-year-old plane tree in the city of Telavi.
Next, we will head to the estate that belonged to Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, a godson of Catherine the Great. It was he who first began to produce wine in Georgia using European techniques. You will learn about the celebrities who visited the estate at that time, take a walk around the complex, or join a tour led by the estate's staff.
Shumi Winery is one of the best wineries in Kakheti. The word 'shumi' translates from Georgian as 'quality wine'. More than 1200 varieties of grape are planted right in the courtyard, and in autumn, anyone can take a stroll here and taste the grapes.
Our path then leads through the town of Telavi, familiar to many from the movie 'Mimino'. Here, I will show you a wonderful 900-year-old tree, near which people traditionally make wishes and take photos for memory.
