Jvari Monastery, Horseback Riding and Old Tbilisi Streets
About this experience
This journey will introduce you to the main attractions of Tbilisi and its picturesque surroundings. You will touch upon the Christian history of Georgia at Jvari Monastery and in the spiritual capital of Mtskheta. You will ride horses along the banks of the Tbilisi Reservoir surrounded by peaceful nature. Walk through the streets of the historical center of Tbilisi and see the evening city lights from the heights of Sololaki Hill.
What to Expect
Jvari Monastery and Ancient Mtskheta
Early in the morning, you will be greeted by the ancient Jvari Monastery, built in the 6th century and preserved in its original form. Watching the confluence of the Aragvi and Kura rivers, we will certainly remember the lines from the poem 'Mtsyri' by M.Y. Lermontov. From here, you will have a clear view of the ancient royal city of Mtskheta and the cathedral patriarchal church of the Georgian Orthodox Church Svetitskhoveli, which is associated with many legends and works of Georgian literature. Then we will descend into the museum city of Mtskheta, the center of Georgia's spiritual life: you will explore the famous monastic complexes of the ancient Iberian capital and learn about the history of Christianity in Georgia.
Horseback Riding by Tbilisi Sea
After lunch, we will head to the beautiful reservoir, lovingly called the 'Tbilisi Sea' by locals. Here you will visit a private stable, learn about the characteristics of local horses, and take a short horseback ride through the picturesque surroundings of the reservoir, enjoying the views of the blue water surrounded by green mountains.
Panoramas of Evening Tbilisi
Closer to evening, we will return to Tbilisi, stroll through the streets of the Old Town, and talk about its ancient history. Then, crossing the Bridge of Peace, you will find yourself in Rike Park and take an aerial tram to the monument of Kartlis Deda (Mother of Georgia) on Sololaki Hill. From here, you will have a stunning view of the evening lights of Tbilisi and its oldest district, where the Jewish synagogue, Muslim mosque, Armenian Gregorian church, and Orthodox temples are located, while on the other side of the hill sprawls the National Botanical Garden.

Nukri provided a guide according to my request. The weather turned bad on the day of the excursion, and moreover, we veered greatly off the plan, but that didn't prevent us from enjoying the communication with the guide. Nana managed to captivate both me and my daughter. Everything was wonderful. 5+
