Mtskheta and Tbilisi: Two Capitals in One Day
About this experience
Many prominent figures have been delighted by the ancient treasures of Mtskheta and Tbilisi, as well as the views of the Military-Georgian Road - now it's your turn! In Mtskheta, you will touch the traces of ancestors, admire the merging of rivers, and learn about the emergence of Georgian Christianity. And in Tbilisi, you will see ancient temples, climb to the fortress of Narikala and Mtatsminda Mountain, admire the Tbilisi balconies and modern landmarks.
What to Expect
Mtskheta
Following the classics
The road from Tbilisi to Mtskheta goes through the beautiful Military-Georgian Road: you will be amazed by its views following Pushkin, Tchaikovsky, Dumas, and Tolstoy. You will pass by the places of Lermontov's poem "Mtsyri": you will see the very place "where, merging, the two streams of Aragvi and Kura rumble, embracing each other like two sisters" and the 6th-century Jvari Monastery, where, presumably, the main events of the poem took place.
Holy places of the ancient capital
Mtskheta is not only the ancient capital of Iberia but also the cradle of Georgian Christianity, a city deeply revered by the Georgians. The charming local streets will lead you to two temples. To Svetitskhoveli (I will teach you how to pronounce this name correctly) - a masterpiece of Georgian temple architecture, where the tunic of Jesus Christ, the mantle of Elijah the Prophet, and the relics of St. Andrew the First-Called are kept. And to the Samtavro Monastery: here you will touch the history of St. Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, and learn about the miraculous blackberry bush.
After a rich walk through Mtskheta, we will have lunch at the Salobie restaurant - a favorite resting place for both locals and our guests.
Tbilisi
Ancient heart of Sakartvelo
In Tbilisi, you will visit the historical district of Metekhi, where you will admire the church of the same name standing on a high cliff on the left bank of the Mtkvari River. You will touch the origins of Tiflis in the area of the Sulfur Baths and walk along the restored Ingor Valley to the waterfall. Passing through old streets with carved balconies, you will hear stories about King David the Builder and his legendary granddaughter Queen Tamar. And you will visit the oldest Freedom Square, which has changed five names and witnessed significant historical events.
Tbilisi in the palm of your hand
Magnificent views of the city will open up from the Narikala fortress, where you will climb by cable car - I will tell you about the ancient walls of the fortress, which have existed since the 4th century. And the funicular will take you to another mountain - Mtatsminda: this is a pilgrimage site to the St. David's Church, where Alexander Griboyedov and his wife Nina Chavchavadze are buried. In addition, the program includes the Holy Trinity Cathedral, built in 2004 and becoming the Cathedral of Georgia.
Modern Tbilisi
I will be happy to tell you about Georgian customs and traditions that we carefully preserve, help you feel the Georgian soul. And thus, you will imperceptibly transfer to the modern capital: walk across the extraordinary Bridge of Peace and Rike Park, as well as visit worthy wine shops where I will help you make the right choice.

Great tour, we went with our 3.5-year-old child, it was not tiring and at the same time very interesting. David truly loves his country and conveys this passion beautifully. To get to know a country, it's important to meet someone who is in love with it. It was also great that they adjusted to exclu...
