Jvari Monastery, Horseback Riding, and Old Tbilisi Streets
About this experience
This journey will introduce you to the main attractions of Tbilisi and its picturesque surroundings. You will explore the Christian history of Georgia at Jvari Monastery and the spiritual capital of Mtskheta. Enjoy a horseback ride along the Tbilisi Reservoir surrounded by serene nature. Walk through the historic streets of Old Tbilisi and see the evening city lights from the Sololaki Hill.
What to Expect
Jvari Monastery and Ancient Mtskheta
Early morning will greet you with the ancient Jvari Monastery, built in the 6th century and preserved in its original form. You will witness the confluence of Aragvi and Kura rivers, reminiscent of M. Yu. Lermontov's poem "Mtsyri." From here, you will have a panoramic view of the ancient royal city Mtskheta and the cathedral Svetitskhoveli, rich in legends and Georgian literary works. Then, we will descend to the museum city of Mtskheta, the center of Georgia's spiritual life: explore the famous monastery complexes of the ancient Iberian capital and learn about the history of Christianity in Georgia.
Horseback Riding at Tbilisi Sea
After lunch, we will head to the beautiful reservoir, lovingly referred to as the "Tbilisi Sea". Here, you will visit a private stable, learn about local horses, and enjoy a short horseback ride through the scenic surroundings of the reservoir, savoring the views of the blue waters amidst green mountains.
Evening Panoramas of Tbilisi
By evening, we will return to Tbilisi, stroll through the streets of the Old Town, and delve into its ancient history. Then, crossing the Peace Bridge, you will find yourself in Rike Park and take an aerial tramway up to the Kartlis Deda monument (Mother Georgia) on Sololaki Hill. From here, a breathtaking view of the evening lights of Tbilisi and its oldest district will unfold before you, where the Jewish synagogue, Muslim mosque, Armenian Gregorian church, and Orthodox temples stand side by side, with the National Botanical Garden sprawling on the other side of the hill.
