Hurry up - you'll be late! Walk in Tbilisi rhythm
About this experience
To fully feel the atmosphere of our city, there is no need to hurry. Gradually unfolding details will help you grasp the uniqueness of the local life philosophy. Playing dominoes in Tbilisi courtyards, heartfelt conversations with neighbors over a cup of coffee with suluguni cheese, original houses from different epochs, the frozen beauty of ancient temples, and exciting landscapes from the Narikala fortress - accompanied by my stories, the world of Tbilisi will appear before you as a complete composition with its own character and intonation.
What to expect
Rustaveli Architectural Carnival
The walk will start from Rustaveli Square, where a little over 100 years ago there was a city gate and weary travelers entered the hospitable Tbilisi to forever leave a piece of their heart. You will encounter miraculously preserved century-old houses, each of which holds its unusual history. You will pass along the main avenue of the city, see a real architectural carnival: theaters and museums, profitable houses, churches, and much more. You will walk along Baratashvili Street, where fragments of the old fortress wall that surrounded the entire city are preserved, and through a small street, formerly called Tsarskaya, you will enter the Old Town.
Historical Center: Quintessence of Life and Atmosphere of Tbilisi
In the Old Town, I will tell you about the famous Tbilisi courtyards, about who kinto and karachokheli were, as well as about the Georgian alphabet and writing. You will see the famous falling clock tower next to the Rezo Gabriadze Theater, the oldest church in Tbilisi - Anchiskhati, the residence of the Georgian Patriarch Ilia II. You will walk on the glass Bridge of Peace, where you should definitely take a couple of photos. And then, by cable car, you will ascend to the Narikala fortress, which offers a magnificent view of the capital.
Scenic Waterfall and Sulfur Baths
Walking down to the Fig Gorge, you will enjoy the coolness and the murmur of the waterfall. Here you will also see the famous Tiflis baths, celebrated by Alexander Dumas and Pushkin. I will show you houses of all layers of the population of ancient and modern Tbilisi. And along the way, I will tell you about the uniqueness of Georgian wine.
National cuisine and Eastern Bazaar
You will have lunch at a cozy Georgian restaurant where they cook amazing khinkali. If you wish, I will gladly show you a master class on 'how to properly eat khinkali.' After that, you will climb to the Metekhi plateau, where there is a monument to Vakhtang Gorgasali, the legendary founder of the city. At the end of the walk, you will take the metro to a real Eastern bazaar, where locals do their shopping. Here you can buy Georgian spices, fresh and aromatic fruits and vegetables, as well as dairy products - suluguni, Imeretian, sheep's cheeses, and matsoni - at very attractive prices.
