Echoes of the Ancient Era
Our journey into the past will begin at Mandraki port, where you will discover the history of the city's foundation and its early years. You will learn why deer are considered a symbol of Rhodes and delve into the mystery of one of the wonders of the world - the Colossus of Rhodes. I will reveal who the Colossus of Rhodes was, what he looked like, where he was located, and if he existed at all. I will also introduce you to the fortification of the medieval city.
Medieval Rhodes and the Knights Hospitaller
In the medieval part of the city, you will walk among Gothic buildings and learn how Rhodes lived during the time of the Crusaders, who were present on the island for over two hundred years. The city's labyrinths will take you back to the times of the Knights Hospitaller and tell you how the knights came to the island, how they lived on Rhodes, and how they left. During the walk, you will see the Grand Master's Palace, the Street of the Knights, as well as the residential quarters of the medieval city.
Monuments of the Ottoman Period
Suleymaniye Mosque will be our starting point for transitioning into the era of Ottoman rule in Rhodes. We will discuss the time when the island was part of the Ottoman Empire, as well as the life and activities of the Jewish community in Rhodes.
History of Rhodes in Artifacts
