Glimmering with Lights Tbilisi
About this experience
A car tour of the evening Tbilisi is an amazing opportunity to see not only the main attractions, but also those corners of the city that are not part of standard walking routes. And of course, enjoy the capital in special lighting when everything sparkles!
What to Expect
City guards - centuries-old plane trees majestically reflected in the Kura River, the Peace Bridge twinkles with 100 thousand light bulbs, and the Narikala Fortress is illuminated on the top of the Sololaki Ridge, giving the impression that it is floating in the air.
- You will drive along the main avenue of the city - Shota Rustaveli Avenue - it is a whole poem in stone.
- You will ascend by funicular to St. Mount Mtatsminda. The Tbilisi funicular is the longest in Europe and one of the most beautiful in the world. It will take you to almost the highest viewpoint of the city, where you will admire Tbilisi in magnificent evening lighting, take a walk in the park planted with 100-year-old trees, and even ride the Ferris wheel. It is here that you will see the whole of Tbilisi at your feet!
- You will drive along Agmashenebeli Avenue, which delights and surprises with its structures. The avenue and the surrounding area were built by German architects in the 19th century, so here you will find a small piece of Europe and understand why our city is called a city of contrasts. We will drive along one part of the avenue and walk on the other - this is the 'New Tiflis' or the Tbilisi Arbat, a closed pedestrian zone which has been restored to its original form. This place is one of the most beloved by the residents of Tbilisi.
- You will see the Holy Trinity Cathedral - the main patriarchal temple of Georgia and the tallest temple in the South Caucasus. You will stroll through the cathedral grounds, learn about the features of its construction, Georgian church architecture, the holy relics and treasures kept here. You will enjoy the stunning view of Tbilisi. And you will also visit the legendary cafe where you will try the Lagidze waters - the famous lemonade considered a cultural heritage and produced according to the original recipe since the late 19th century.
The city's history, the origins of Georgian traditions, the lives of remarkable people who have made Tbilisi what it is, the incredible atmosphere of this place - this is what awaits you during this tour.
I hope that, like me, you will see how diverse our city is: here nature blends with the creation of human hands, leaving its mark on the streets and squares, the houses and cathedrals of amazing proportions. Here, time is measured in centuries, the clash of cultures gives the city a special romantic charm and unique vibrancy. After visiting Tbilisi, Alexandre Dumas stated that he shouted with joy at every step, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky wrote that he remembered this city as a sweet dream. I hope that you too will want to return here.
