About this experience
Georgian cuisine is as diverse as its landscapes. In a guest rural house in Imereti, you will cook Sakartvelo dishes from farm products. You will learn about culinary traditions, find out how Megrelian khachapuri differs from Kakhetian (and not only). And in the end, you will better understand this colorful country!
What to expect
Excursion into the gastronomy of the Georgian people
From generation to generation, the traditions of preparing Georgian dishes are passed down - and they vary in each region. I will reveal to you the peculiarities of not only Imeretian cuisine, but also Svan, Megrelian, Kakhetian, and Adjarian. You will hear the stories of the origin of some dishes, decipher the meaning of their names, and learn how Georgian cuisine differs from Arab and Turkish cuisines.
Master class on 3 dishes
We will taste interesting flavor combinations accompanied by dry white or red wine, and discover the world of Georgian spices - I will teach you how to use them properly. And during the master class, you will learn how the technology of cooking dishes has changed over the centuries.
You will choose the menu in advance with my help, selecting 3 dishes from the region you like (one from each category).
- First course (flour-based):
- Khachapuri (Adjarian, Imeretian, Megrelian, or Kakhetian)
- Mchadi (traditional corn cake) - Second course (vegetable, herb, mushroom-based):
- Pkhali (appetizer made from herbs, walnuts, vegetables, or mushrooms)
- Svan dish with potatoes
- Megrelian dish with mamaliga
- Lechkhums lobio or lobiani (bean dish) - Third course (meat, poultry): satsivi, bazhe, chakapuli, chakhokhbili, chashushuli, adjahuri and other delicious options to choose from :)
And then you will surely enjoy a delicious meal - and in the end, you will see that you can easily recreate your favorite Georgian dishes at home!
