About this experience
Embark on a gastronomic voyage to the cozy port city of Setubal! You will visit the local colorful market, authentic fish restaurant, and cafes with traditional desserts. If desired, you will also have the opportunity to visit a winery. We will share insights about local cuisine, eating culture, popular dishes, and the role of dining in the lives of the Portuguese.
What to Expect
Colorful Portuguese Market
You will visit one of the oldest and most popular markets in Portugal. Wander along the stalls filled with fruits, vegetables, and fresh homemade goods. You will also see an incredible variety of fish and mollusks, learn about their names and cooking methods. Additionally, we will tell you about the bread preferred by the Portuguese, the secrets of making local cheeses, and the meaning of the mysterious word 'petiscos'.
Abundant Fish Restaurant
From theory, we will move on to practice - and head to one of the local restaurants. For a fixed moderate price, you can eat as much fish, octopus, and squid as you can handle. They will also serve salad, jacket potatoes, and appetizers. Our meal, like true Portuguese style, will be accompanied by lively conversations. During the meal, we will talk not only about gastronomic secrets but also about the eating culture of the local population.
Cafe with Desserts and Winery
After a hearty lunch, we will stroll through the picturesque city streets and visit a cozy cafe with Portuguese desserts. Optionally, we will then visit one of the oldest wineries in the region. You can learn about its history and taste local wines. To keep you entertained along the way, we will share insights about traditional alcoholic beverages of Portugal.
