About this experience
In Portugal, a set table is a central place for socializing. Any dish is a great reason to share something interesting. I invite you to spend a wonderful day (or evening) as a guest of a chef. On her cozy home kitchen, you will prepare traditional Portuguese dishes. Before that, we will visit the local market and choose the right seasonal products.
What to expect
We will take a short tour of one of the oldest markets in Lisbon - Mercado da Ribeira. Its history dates back to the 13th century, its assortment is endless. After selecting the necessary products, we will make a brief stop at a bar and hurry to the ferry across the Tagus River - at the river station, Chef Paula will greet us and we will go to her place. We will taste a welcome drink from Portuguese wines from a 200-year-old winery in the south of the country - and start culinary magic!
Under the guidance of the master, we will prepare three Portuguese dishes: appetizer, main course, and dessert.
- Appetizer. You will have two options to choose from: Bulhão Pato mollusks - shells in duck broth, prepared with olive oil and garlic. You will feel the clear seafaring taste mixed with the fresh aroma of coriander. Or "Garden Fish" (Peixinho de horta) - green beans, fried in batter. This is one of the most traditional Portuguese appetizers.
- Main course. Three options to choose from: Caldeirada - stewed white fish with vegetables. A typical Portuguese version - a dish made of skate, small shark, or conger. Bacalhau à Gomes de Sà - boiled fish with potatoes, black olives, and onions. Carne de Porco a Alentejana - stewed meat with mollusks, potatoes, olives, and coriander.
- Dessert. We will prepare the most Portuguese pastry - Pastel de nata, which is the country's hallmark. It is a sweet made of puff pastry with egg cream, sprinkled with cinnamon.
After the masterclass, we will sit down at the table, communicate, taste wines, and savor the prepared dishes. As a memento of the masterclass, you will receive a booklet with recipes.
